Welcome back . I hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year and that your children are eager to come back to school, ready to learn . 

Our topic for this half term is From the ant to the zebra. 


In our science we will be looking at different animal groups and their characteristics., we will be sorting animals into the different groups , looking for examples of each animal group in our environment. In our art we will be making underwater pictures , recreating the rain forest through collage and  making clay fish .


Over the term children will be learning to name, locate and describe each of the Continents, the 5 Oceans . Comparing and contrasting each continent .

Each week we will be studying a different habitat , beginning with the ocean , then the rain forest and ending up  in  Antarctica. 


In our English we are focusing on using adjectives to improve our descriptions. 

Using each of the sentence type in our writing , exclamations, statements, questions and  commands.  

we will be developing our knowledge and understanding of non fiction texts, retrieving information , knowing how to use the contents, glossary  and index pages . 


This half term our focus is  multiplication, division and fractions 


we are learning to use a simple search engine to locate , copy and paste animal pictures.

we will be developing our word processing skills using Word and PowerPoint.

We will continue to teach the children about E safety .

Welcome back after the half term break. This term promises to be a busy and exciting one ! with hopefully lots of sunshine. Please remember to send your child in with a hat, sun cream and a water bottle particularly when the weather is hot and sunny.   Our topic for this half term in Mini beasts , we also have a sports and a science week to look forward too. The annual sports day  is fast approaching  as is the leavers  production for all our wonderful Year Twos!

                                                            ARTS WEEK  

We have had a very busy and creative week with some stunning results. 

On Tuesday we enjoyed a session with Steve who taught us how to play the didgeridoo!

We even got to take our own one home !! keep practicing, see how many different sounds you can make


 As part of our topic on Growing we ventured to Fairhaven Water Gardens. 

We had a fantastic day and enjoyed being outdoors . We all came home with at least one new piece of information. 

We tried different activities including mini beast hunting, tree identification and building a minibeast hotel. 

we will keep the hotels in our school grounds and write about the visitors we get!

Red , White and Blue day 

to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday we held a red , white and blue day . Children came in red , white and blue and brought a plant of the same colour scheme to plant in our brand new planters around school. We spent a frantic afternoon planting every plant ! they look fantastic and certainly brighten up the school grounds. Make sure you have a look . 

Also on the day we made Union Jack kites and iced biscuits using what?  yes , you guessed it  red , white and blue icing !!  

Easter Bonnets! 

well done to all children and parents for making a fantastic effort with the bonnets. There were some amazing creations and the whole school came together in the hall to have a grand parade. It really was a cheery occasion.  

The children performed magnificently in the Christmas production . Well done to everyone . 


After a busy term  and the Christmas performances it was time to  let our hair down and  enjoy our Christmas lunch and class parties.
