Harvest Festival

The whole school enjoyed our Harvest Festival at the church on 11th October.

Reception have been learning about the lovely food we eat and how our food is made.

We had great fun performing our Harvest Samba song for the rest of the school and parents.

Christmas 2018

Christmas was a very busy time for Reception!

We enjoyed eating our Christmas lunch in the hall, and made special crowns to wear!

Our class was Spain in this year's Christmas production, and the children did a great job learning the words to all of the songs and singing and dancing to our Spain song!

To celebrate Christmas we had a party in the classroom and even had a visit from Father Christmas!

On the last day of term, we had a Christingle service in the hall.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Athlete visit 11/02/19

The children thoroughly enjoyed our visit from triple jumper Laura Samuel on Monday. We heard Laura's inspirational story in assembly, and she showed us how far she can jump, 14 metres!! We all worked hard to complete our circuit and raised lots of money for our school. Well done!

Maths Workshop

We welcomed parents and grandparents into school this afternoon to learn a bit about how Mathematics is taught in Reception, and to complete some Maths-based activities with the children.

Using the story 'The Great Pet Sale' as a starting point, children collaged their own toys and gave them a price tag. They also had a go at doing some coin rubbings and matching coins to their values.

The children impressed their grown ups by showing them how they can solve addition and subtraction number sentences! We're all getting good at recognising the '+', '-' and '=' symbols, and are learning to use our fingers, objects and number lines to work out simple number problems.

Great fun was had by all!

Thank you to all those that attended!

Writing Workshop
Reception made their family members very proud of them! They worked hard to write a super sentence about what they would do if they were a knight or a princess, using all of the sounds and keywords they've learnt to help them!
